Introduction to becoming a member

JYPA welcomes all yachting industry professionals, including individuals currently employed in the yachting or management industries as well as those who are interested in a career in yachting.

<Individual members>
Category Requirements Annual fees
Senior Captain   -Must meet the requirements for Captain membership
 -Have over 10 years professional captain experience or JYPA certified experience.

Captain  -Must meet the requirements for Crew membership
 -Have requisite qualifications and licenses 
 -Have over 5 years’ professional experience or JYPA certified experience.
 -Be certified higher than Open Water in Scuba diving.  (Or have a certificate and/or experience equivalent to it)

Senior crew  -Must meet the requirements for the Crew membership.
 -Be certified higher than Open Water in Scuba diving.  (Or have a certificate and/or experience equivalent to it)
 -Have over 5 years professional crew experience or JYPA certified experience.

Crew  Must meet requirements 1. and 2. listed below
 1.Complete one of the following, or a similar, safety training course.
  - First aid, fire fighting training, such as JEIS
  - STCW95Basic 
  - Yacht piloting license
 2.Experience or certification in any of these or their equivalent:
  - Experience working in high quality service industry, such as airline flight attendant or hotel staff. 
  - Graduated from a school which gives professional hospitality training.
  - Graduated from a JYPA designated hospitality course.

Steps to membership

  1.  Enroll from our website or via phone or mail.
  2. JYPA will send an invitation. Please return the application form and letter of acceptance.
  3. Application reviewed by JYPA ( All applicants  except crew member will be reviewed by the committee)
  4. JYPA will send you a membership certificate.
  5. Direct debit of annual fee 
  6. (Annual membership fee is debited  in May or the next month of admission. The annual fee will be discounted by 10% per month only in the case of admission in July or later.)

When you become member

  • We can introduce you as a reliable professional captain or crew member, to our clients, as JYPA certified
  • JYPA will introduce jobs to Corporate members and Individual members.
    (only when there is a job matching for both side)
  •  Corporate membership fee, also includes the annual fee for two individual members.
